One of the 46 villages of the Zagori region. It belongs to the municipality of Tymphi, located 38 km from Ioannina with an altitude of 870 m in the middle of the village.
It was formed as a settlement before 1430 AD and is built in a special traditional style. Koukouli was named after the very big stones found in the area ( latin "cuculla" = cover) or after the sericulture the residents had been practicing. |
